Willson Jenkins

WillsonWillson has vast experience in numerous types of cases within the jurisdiction of the Circuit Court of Lauderdale County.  He has handled important and groundbreaking cases as a Guardian ad Litem, including cases involving adults with mental deficiencies, and cases involving the defense of a minor child (Ex Parte Willson Jenkins v. M.A.B.) wherein he prevented a father from abandoning his child support obligations.  Willson is the only candidate to defend property owners’ rights against the State of Alabama in condemnation cases in Colbert and Lauderdale Counties in the last 10 years.

He has argued cases before the Alabama Supreme Court (Cackowski v. Walmart)  and argued before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals (Hammond, et al. v. Reynolds Metals Co.) for the protection of hourly workers at Reynolds Metals Company regarding their pension benefits.

Willson is admitted to practice in the Alabama Supreme Court; United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Alabama; Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals; United States Supreme Court; United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama; United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama; and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Alabama.

He is a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Florence, Alabama, where he was a former member of the Administrative Board.  He was President of the McKinley Young Lawyers in 1992; a former member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters; and was President of Muscle Shoals Sailing Club in 2007-2008.

Willson is married to Bonnie Kennamore Jenkins of Greenhill, Alabama.  Bonnie has been an Industrial Hygenist at General Electric in Decatur, Alabama for over 15 years.  Willson and Bonnie have two daughters, ages 8 and 5.

Willson and his wife enjoy racing sailboats together, along with cooking, sailing, and fishing with their daughters.  Willson also enjoys traveling and photography.
